eating too fast
It's really hard to break old habits. This is what works for me. I sit at the dinner table to eat, with no distractions like the computer, the phone, t.v. ....etc. I put my fork/spoon down after every bite. I chew my food very slowly, at least 15-20 times, I mean slowly. I also cut my food really small like the size you would give to a toddler. I also use a smaller utensil. The conversation at the dinner table has been awesome for my family too. Slowing down gives you time for the little things, and also makes for a friendlier pouch! lol
To make myself break of the habit of eating too fast, I started with a baby spoon. I took very small bites and put the spoon down between every single bite and waited a minute after I swallowed the last bite before I even picked up the spoon again. In the beginning, I ate alone in my bedroom, so that I could concentrate completely on eating slowly, taking small bites and chewing thoroughly. It made a world of difference later on. I keep social eating situations to a minimum because eating too fast still causes pain for me. When you are talking and socializing, it is easy to forget and eat too fast.
Good luck.

I think I am eating too fast . I was always a fast eater and now when I sit down I don't know what to do to make the food last as long as we should. Is eating slow so we don't over eat or does it stretch our pouch ?In relationship to the reason why we are to learn the life style change of eating slowly is so that our brain can register when we are full. It takes 20-30 minutes for the brain to register chemically that our tummy is full. I have also come to learn that it is so we enjoy our food. There are so many great tasting foods out there and we can eat so little . . . why not take the time to enjoy your food?
Now, we are not perfect so do not expect to learn this overnight as it will take time and we are all human and you will forget. Just forgive yourself and learn from your experience. My DH and I are close to 8 years our and we still flub up.

I still struggle with this sometimes. I find when I am feeling nervous/anxious, or driving is when I eat too fast. It causes me alot of pain and I eventually have to throw up. Not good.
I am learning though. I watch the clock when Im at home eating and try to chew as long as possible and put my fork down in between bites. Its a hard habit to break i know.
