PSA: Target swimsuits run ridiculously small!

My quest to find a swimsuit continues.  Today I went to Target and they had some very cute ones.  I took several to the dressing room to try on and was very displeased when I discovered they run really, really small.  I am wearing a 16/18 in most things these days (sometimes a 14) and even the 2X was too small in the swimsuits I tried on!

Needless to say, I did not buy a swimsuit there.  I will continue looking.  I just thought I'd warn you in case anyone else goes there looking for a suit.

Thanks for the heads up! I wear a regular 16 right now, too, and may be swimsuit shopping soon because the new one I bought last year is a women's 20, I think.

Last year, I was seeking a one-piece suit because I was doing water aerobics at the pool at my gym, and I bought one from Wlmart only to find that theirs run SHORT. It fit around me, but the length of the body was so short that the neckline came down past my boobs (and no, that was NOT the intended style!) and the halter strap dug into the back of my neck.

Yeah, the WM ones seem to be made for people with really short torsoes!

You might want to look at Torrid...I stopped in to look at shoes yesterday since I have wide feet and they had some very cute and flattering swimsuits.

Agree with the Wally World suits for short torsos. Another thing that ****** me off at Wally World is the JMS run small in size but high numbers! I wear a 18W in other brands, but still have to have a 24/26 in the JMS jeans. I don't get it. I do like the White Stag ones, but they don't have the selection that they used to carry in that brand now.

I have worn tankini suits for a long time because it does away with fitting issues.

Much more forgiving on size.

Hate to say this but WalMart, Target, KMart are all "inexpensive" stores and their clothes will always run small and not true to size.  Avenue carries size 14 up and will have some really cute bathing suits.  I swim three times a week and buy all my suits from H20 Swim suits.  They are a little expensive, but they never shrink, and never get baggy or transparent from chlorine.   They have all sizes.  Right now at 252 lbs. I wear a size 20 long.  I get the long because I like the longer torso and it forgives a little more roundness.  Hope this helps.
We must let go of what was if we are going to embrace what is !

Another store that I would recommend for budget swimwear is Burlington Coat Factory they are a surplus outlet style store that takes a lot of looking but has great finds.

I have bought many nice things there over the years.

Kohls advertised a long torso. I tyhink I'm going to check it out. I do need the long ones. Thank goodness for tankinis.
