LISTEN, YOU are always the one talking about how you were a self-pay and how others who have used their insurance don't feel the same blow.  It is like this psychoanalyst  - who used to be a friend who wrote an article in the 90's which stated that people of color don't feel the same impact of HIV/AIDS because  they are used to tragedy & disappointment.  It made me sick!!!

Screw it.  I'm ******g happy and if the day ever comes where I'm not, I wouldn't hesitate to make an adjustment.  I too will maybe get to see where some of you are with the sleeve.  You got to admit darling that so much of our success depends on us  (you are very disciplined and conscious).  I don't think  I would have had as much success if I didn't go to Weigh****chers, eat super foods, didn't move my body, etc.  WILL

When we don't change our habits, we are all doomed for failure no matter our surgery.  We can't rely on our WLS being new and so restrictive and malabsorbtive 3,4,5+ years down the road. With a little stretching, learned tricks, and intestines becoming more efficient we will only be back where we begun.

FYI, I would NEVER push anyone into getting any certain type of surgery.  We have to research and do what is right for our particular situation.

Peace!

I most certainly am not always talking about how I was self pay and others who have used their insurance don't feel the same blow.  You are clearly confusing me with someone else.  For zog's sakes, get the hell over yourself.

Okay Midwestern Girl, I'm not going to block you, but you really turn my stomach these days.  Please let's not respond to each other.

Have a good life.

When truth and honesty turn your stomach, it says a lot more about you than it does me.

Save yourelf the "bandtagonism" here, and come over to the Band Forum, where you'll be among friends. The last thing you need the day before your surgery is this crap.

I'd have to disagree as well.  People should research their surgery options and their surgeon until the minute they go to sleep for surgery.  It's not too late until the surgery is done.

I think what the OP asked is a valid question and if she wanted head patting she would have gone to the band board to begin with.  She apparently wants the info since she did come here to ask a specific question.

Again, disagree all you like. But keep in mind that there is the possibility that the OP HAS made the right decision for her and for her life - and just had another honest followup question, one which comes up quite often. The question is a reasonable one, and NO ONE really, REALLY knows how long the band will last. The INTENT is that it is there for LIFE but nothing comes with a 100% lifetime guarantee - NOTHING.

If anyone wants GUARANTEES in life, WLS is NOT the place to get them, regardless of the procedure.

????

I don't see where anyone here has claimed otherwise.

I am of the belief that we should research the surgery type and the surgeon up to the minute we go to sleep for surgery.  Many people decide at the last minute on a different surgery type.  It's not a sin.  If the OP is absolutely 100% positive about her surgery type, she'd have little need to write such a post less than 24 hours before surgery.

So there is the possibility that the OP HAS NOT made the right decision for her and her life and that might be why she is questioning it now.

If she is going to ask, we have a responsibility to respond.

Perhaps you should point me in the direction of the post that shows she is asking for guarantees?  I think I missed it. ;o)

But stats.. that one is easy.  We can show her what the majority of people experience.

BTW... how's that new band working for you?

does among friends mean those who are complication free?

there was no one wanting to hear bad when i was posting & that's a real shame for those looking / seeking support.

what's unfortunate is that "that" environment (lapband forum) keeps others like myself who have had a complication / worked with their medical staff & still have their band - from posting & offering advise.

different perspective......

bette had complications and she's really open about it.  Many have had complications, many of my RNY friends and DS friends have too, and they have all been open about it.  I think knowing the bad from people that have had direct experience with it is VITAL!  Honestly, no war.  I think asking the night before is late, but at least she's asking.  Maybe she will change her mind.  Maybe she won't.  Hopefully she will find what is best for her and be successful; that's my wish for all of us!
