what can I do to make my shakes not so foamy?

Im almost 2 weeks RNY post-op and I dont mind the flavor of the protein shakes but can NOT stand the foamy part of it.  I mix it in my magic bullet and add a little ice.  Ive had it with milk and water and just let it sit for a few minutes so the foam could maybe go away but no luck.  Yuck!   If you have any ideas I would sooooo appreciate it!

You can mix your shakes in a shaker cup instead of the blender.  Some brands mix OK if you just stir with a spoon.

I like mine best in the blender with ice, too, though.  If you do that, you can let it sit in the fridge for a little bit after you mix them.  Then if you stir it a little with a spoon, that can help get rid of some of the foam, too.

I have also found some brands of protein powder make a lot more foam than others.  If the foam really bothers you, you might try some other brands to see if they are less foamy.  I haven't found one that makes no foam, but I definitely find some are foamier than others.

I've found if I skip the ice I have less foam...but then it gets warm and intolerable to drink...lol. Maybe put ice cubes in it after you mix it up instead of grinding them with the shake?

It has been almost two years since my surgery.  I still drink a protein drink every morning when I go out for coffee with my friends.  I use fat free milk with one package of carnation instant breakfast no sugar added  and a scoop of unjury unflavored protein.  I put it in a shake cup.  make it the night before full to the top, put in fridge, when I get up in the am I shake to mix it up again.  Use a couple of gulps to swallow my vitamins then add ice to the top and drink right out of the mix cup.  Tastes just like chocolate milk.  You don't even know it is a protein drink.  I bought the bullet and tried it once.  Just shaking it works better for me. Good luck

I use the ready to drink shakes because I can't stand the foam.

I have the same issue.  But if I leave mine sit, then all the foam comes to the top and I end up scooping it out with a spoon.  I know that I am throwing away protien, but I would rather that then puke it up.

I use the shaker cup and add ice cubes. That way it's still really cold but not foamy at all.

I hate the foam too.  I have switched to the Isopure Zero Carb protein mixes. I also use the ready to drink from them too.   I use the protein powder in a bullet with ice.  It has a few bubbles on top but they settle as you drink it.  They also don't have a nasty protein taste.

Do yourself a favor and go to Walmart and invest in a Rival Snowcone Maker.  They are under $20.  Shave about a cup of ice to add to your shake before you blend it.  It makes it process a lot better with the magic bullet.  Since the ice is shaved you won't have the icy granules.  I do all mine in the magic bullet as well and it works out really well.  One other thing, "IF" you decide to go with the ice shaver I mentioned above, when you use it, set the machine in a plate.  There is no way you can get all the shavings out.  I had water on the counter and couldn't figure out for the longest time what it was from.  Ever since I put in under a plate I haven't had a problem with it.

The upside to this is that it makes it very thick and if you have a favorite protein supplement, it comes out like a good ol' thick DQ shake that is legal.

Hope this helps.
