Sensitive icky problem Sorry!

I always seem to find advice on here about everything, but I apologize about this one!   After my surgery, I started having spontaneous bowel leakage and assumed that this might come with the territory after gastric bypass.   But this summer it has gotten a tad worse, and I am thinking that the fact I have been eating lots of salads and fruit may have made it intensify.   Since I am 65 years old, I worry about this progressing when I get REALLY old!   Has this happened to anyone else?  There is a new doctor at my baratric center, and he doesn't seem to know very much; more or less gives basic answers, etc.
Any advice???

I would be looking for another doctor for your problem that is not a normal thing after surgery.

Hope things get better

Have you had a colonoscopy?  I'd recommend you get one.

I tend to have runny bowels when I eat those foods as well, but loss of bowel control is never normal. I would talk to my primary care physician about having some tests done. Good luck.

this is the first time I have ever heard of this I highly doubt its connected however I would run it by your surgeon and then they can point you in the right direction such as what tyoe if doctor you should have it checked out by.  I would not settle for "basic" answers from your surgeon I would put it to them well do you know or not you may want to run it by your primary doctor too.  Godd luck take care.

What you want is a referral to a gastroenterologist who does nothing but gastro work.
Or, if you don't need a referral for insurance, just set yourself up with one and go.

Definitely see somebody that can actually help you. I would get a referral from your pcp.

one thing to check is any meds you are on - some have "liquid" side effects.  discuss it with your pcp.

I would suggest starting with a visit to your PCP to discuss the problem.  This should not have anything to do with your surgery at all.  It could be a variety of things, such as Crohn's Disase, a prolapsed rectum, or irritable bowel syndrome just to mention a few.  You really need a thorough workup.
