Ouch!   Guess that padding was good for something!   I haven't injured my tailbone, but I definitely feel it when I am sitting in the bathtub!  I can finally enjoy a nice bath, and my bum hurts!  LOL.   I 've considered looking into a pillow or somthing so I can si tfor more than 10 minutes. AAhhhh  Calgon....

Get it checked out anyway.  The hubby went flying down a water slide and WHAM on the bottom on the pool in Malaysia (Coast Guard-on their way to the Persian Gulf years ago).  They shipped him home.  Messed up his back pretty badly actually.

I lived in Alaska for quite a few years and fell.  The doctor gave me a script for one of the donut pillows.  That worked wonders.  If someone you know has a baby you might want to ask if they have a Boppy Pillow that you can borrow to sit on.  Those worked well too.

Hope you feel better soon.

Oh man, I'm so sorry! I feel for you! In 2003 I was out with my husband and the place we went to had a leaking bar and I slipped and fell, landing right on my tailbone. I've been dealing with that pain since and it's NOT pleasant. Physical therapy helped some, ice and heat help, I own a yoga ball and it helps me when I need to stretch and sitting on it helps. I would suggest a Chiropractor if you are willing, mine has kept me walking. I go to the pool and it takes some of that pressure off my lower back and sitting in a hot tub helps some. As I'm losing weight the pain is getting worse and I have to be seen by a pain specialist.
I hope you heal up well and have no permanent damage!
