You're really got a bugger-bear about iron infusions, don't you? The TRUTH is that some people have trouble absorbing iron, even if they've never had surgery. And some people absorb it really well, even after having a malabsorptive surgery. There are plenty of DSers out there who've never had trouble with iron.

WOW cabin111, it must really suck to have such poor reading comprehension skills.

And yes of course you are "wrong again".

First, where did I say that I or that all Dser could "completely absorb iron". Since I don't even know what that statement means I'm pretty sure I didn't say it; now lets see, what was it that I did say? Oh yea, here's what I actually said:

While it true that the greater curvature of the stomach is removed, the remaining sleeve with stretch out to the point that you can eat normal sized meals. Unlike RNY, the DS sleeve retains your pyloric valve and some of the duodenum so there can be no dumping with the DS and you can absorb Iron and B12.

Hmm, what I said was that because we retain our pyloric valve and some of our duodenum we can absorb Iron and B12. All true, but if course people are all different and some absorb Iron and B12 better than others, so some may need an infusion, while others like me don't need infusions and could probably get by without supplementing. But since I want my Iron and B12 levels to be optimal, I supplement in order to have those levels at the optimal.

It must really suck to have such poor comprehension of what your surgery did to you and how absorption of vitamins and minerals actually works. But don't get discouraged, keep hanging around, ask questions or even post more stupid stuff; that way you'll eventually get the correct information and maybe even learn to understand how your RNY works and what you need to do to be healthy.

6 years post RNY here.  Lost 150# in 9 months and have kept it off.  I dump daily which is a blessing - it keeps me on track.  I wish I could have lost the weight without RNY, and that I was normal, but I couldn't  and I'm not normal.  BUT I am a normal size and I can do almost anything I want to.  My quality of life is astronomically better and I do not regret my decision.  My father had a lap band put on last February and I think he made the wrong decision, he is not a happy camper or as successful as he had hoped.

Every different WLS surgery has it's good and bad, and every surgery affects every one of us differently.  If you did your homework and your Doctor agrees with your choice, do it and ignore the failures in here.  They probably would have failed with whichever surgery they picked.

WTF? SRSLY?  If you are dumping everyday you are not on track.

That's a load.  It's a horrible thing to write as well.

If you are dumping daily you are not a success, you haven't learned to work with your bypass yet.  I don't care if you had bypass 6 days ago or 6 years, you still haven't gotten it right.

I failed a band I guess.  My BMI was 20.8 when I had my revision but the band was about killing me. I failed too, in your eyes.  Right?

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

That is called "blaming the victim." The surgeries fail, not the people.

Ignoring anecdotal evidence ("the failures here") is one thing. Ignoring the scientific evidence is just plain stupid.

" I dump daily which is a blessing - it keeps me on track."

You are "not on track" if you are dumping daily.

Stop deluding yourself in thinking this.  You are turning your WLS into a psychosis -- a WLS bulimia of sorts.

The damage of daily dumping to your endocrine system, digestive system, and your mental state is beyond belief.

I can't even imagine how you justify this.
