Does anyone know if Kroger's insurance offers WLS?

or any other major company that can be found anywhere? I am in the Savannah GA area. My company has WLS excluded from the plan. Georgia has a WLS anti discrimination law, but it only covers fully insured plans. My company HR reps says it is a Fully insured plan but UHC is telling the State Insurance Commissioner that it is a self insured plan. The Insurance commissioners office is still working on it, but I need a backup plan.

I read that Starbucks offers the WLS option to their part time employees, but I was wondering if Kroger or anyone else does? The nearest Starbucks to me is in a Kroger and they are actually Kroger employees (I found that out today). The next closest Starbucks corporate location is a 30 miles drive away so I am trying to find something closer.

My husband works for Kroger (NC).  I had coverage through my employer but we checked with his as I have double coverage.  They told me that WLS is NOT COVERED.

Try checking the the insurance companies membership service department.  They generally know all the rules, and make sure you have your membership and policy numbers to give them.  In regards to changing insurance companies, I think you only have until the end of the year. Then you have to meet the working requirements for the new company. Part time workers, probabation time periods that have to be met, etc. may affect you too. DAVE

hi,

Im not sure if your Kroger store is a union or non union store. My husband works for a Union Kroger store in WV and WLS is covered, but it has to be determined medically neccissary and your BMI has to be 50

I think it depends on the plan. There is a person in my support group who works at Kroger and had the sleeve.
