Pope's Nazi past

Benedict XVI former Hitler Youth member

If my memory is correct, he served in the military, in an antiaircraft unit. Wasn't that the side that preached ethnic purity and killed 6 million Jews??

He is  definitely one scary mofo. I can't believe they ever elected him, but I guess he did a great job covering up all the abuse.

I am Catholic and this  time in the history of my Faith is one I am not proud of.  There have been others, but in my life time this is an extremely sad time.  I loved John Paul, he was a wonderful man and a hard act to follow.  But the sexual abuse committed by clergy should have been ddressed severely.  There should never have been a cover up and the ones found guilty should be removed from the clergy, not reprimanded and sent back out to work for the Catholic Church!  They should never be allowed into a position of trust again either.

I am only one, But still, I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.

At what point in history was Catholicism good?

I think it has always been good,   The problem is the human element.  Ir always has been in anything.  People have done stupid things in the name of their gods for ever.  No loving God would condone these activities in their name.   These examples are as absurd as Muslims belief that if they kill an infidel in Allah's name they are guaranteed paradise.  In most Religions the premise is for peace, not war and killing.  The stupid human element always ***** it up!

This is why I decided I could not remain catholic or believe in god.

Per Websters dictionary Condone: to regard or treat (something bad or blameworthy) as acceptable, forgivable, or harmless

By standing by and doing nothing the church has condoned all the evil done in it's name and the same applies to god.

Therefore I choose to believe god does not exist because to believe he does and is evil is unimaginable. And if he is evil then he does not deserve my adoration.

I do not believe God is evil, but I DO believe people can be.
