My RNY didn't work!
I am just curious, but is there anyone else out there that feel like their surgery didn't work? I had RNY surgery June 2009. I haven't even lost 100 pounds! I keep seeing these post where people have lost 100 pounds or more within MONTHS of having surgery! I'm starting to feel this was all a waste of time, effort and pain. I'm sure I won't be able to get a revision or the lap band. Probably won't get many responses on this, but I just had to ask....
You are being too hard on yourself. Based on your ticker you've lost 96 lbs and have 18 lbs to go. It does take work but my guess is you aren't done yet.
I'm sorry you are feeling down, look at how far you've come.

According to the experts you are a success having lost more then 50% of your excess weight. When I first started out I weighed about 240lbs and my surgeon told me that it was possible that I could wind up weighing something like 196lbs. Not thin for sure but better then 240lbs.

I think I'm missing something here--You lost 96 pounds and you consider that a waste of time?
I'm sure I won't be one of those who loses more than 100 in a year, given the pace at which I'm losing now but I hardly consider that a failure. I had the lapband for 4 years and lost nothing--I giained. I've tried all the usual diets,, even Optifast (thank you Oprah) and never lost more than 30 pounds. I am at my lowest weight since high school.
Please stop comparing yourself to ANYONE else. It is such an individual process and you need to b proud of every hard earned pound you lost. Don't get hung up on the number. Instead count your NSVs (Non scale victories.) I'm sure there have been many of them this year.
Good luck.

Like the others it's beyond me how a 96 pound weight loss represents a surgical failure to you. People who have 200 pounds to lose do lose faster. So what! You January blog said you weren't paying attention to your diet or exercise....that's where you focus. It gets harder the further out you get but that hardly means the surgery didn't work and was a waste of time.....means you're like the rest of us. Read some posts from people who would give anything to have had surgery and lose 96 pounds. Might help change your perspective. Susan
