My RNY didn't work!
Well I am dumbfounded after having read your post. I must ditto what everyone else has said. How could you consider the surgery a waste of time? You have lost a small person (like a 4th or 5th grader). How can going from a size 24 to a size 14 have been a waste of time?
I don't mean to sound harsh BUT and SO I am going to say to you what I would say to my daughter who may be around your age or a little older.
You need to stop comparing yourself to others. You are an individual.
Start sticking to the plan......oreos and weight loss do not mix.
Try making the sacrifice and giving up the "extras" until you reach your goal weight, which YOU CAN AND WILL DO when you get the motivation that you need to see this through.
Stick to the plan with what you are eating.
Get with the exercise because it does help!
This is no time for a pity party. Stop crying over spilt milk. It's time to move on and make some decisions that will give you a more healthy outlook regarding your future.
We are here to help you in any way we can.
At 17 months I was STILL down 108 lbs
At 21 months I was down 127 lbs
AT 29 months I was down 139 lbs (GOAL)
At 35 months I was down 147 lbs and weighing 146 lbs
I'm still losing albeit slowly
If I gave up at 12 months, I'd be a size 14/16 instead of the size 8 I am now.
Everyone is an individual. You can moan adn groan about not being like all the rest of the cool kids, or you can live with the body you have nad continue to work it. your choice.
~Lady Lithia~ 200 lbs lost!
March 9, 2011 - Coccygectomy!
I chased my dreams, and my dreams, they caught me!
There's a reason the world of bariatric medicine considers losing 50% of one's excess weight a success. Bariatric surgery is NOT about getting skinny and hawt (though if you get that way in the bargain, it's a plus, of course). It's about SAVING YOUR LIFE.
The average clothing size in the USA is a 14, last I heard. Celebrate NORMALCY, fergawdsake, and quit pining for whatever it is that's so all important that you think it makes your accomplishments a "waste of time."
Oy vey. Our skewed expectations will get us every time.
96 pounds isn't anything to sneeze at! I agree with everyone else, you can sit here and compare yourself to everyone else (which doesn't accomplish a darn thing) or you can take an honest look at yourself and your habits and find out if there is something you can DO about it.
Ht. 5'2 HW 234/GW 150/LW 128/CW 132 Size 18/20 to a size 4 in 9 months!

You have to keep focussed on your diet and your exercise routine, they go hand in hand both during the period you are losing weight and more so during maintenance. The more carefully you follow and adhere to your plan along with keeping an exercise routine suitable to your needs the more satisfied you are going to be with your outcome. Do not despair ... whether it comes off faster or slower if you stick to your plan of action it WILL come off and if you choose to eat healthy and exercise for life it WILL stay off ... it does take a lot of work...and effort and the best thing is to focus on yourself and the goals you have set for yourself and do not compare yourself to others ... it is an individual thing...
Congratulations on the 96 pounds lost ... drop any refined carbs .. get healthy protein from foods and up your game moving/burning calories to lose ... you can do it!!! Look how far you've come ... don't give up ... Please don't look at eating healthy and exercising as a waste of time because once we stop being vigilant and stop embracing the changes we purposed ourselves to follow in order to achieve better health through weight loss we will regain ... and we certainly don't want to go back but move forward ... If we slip we just get back on track ... one day at a time....
