My RNY didn't work!

I have to agree with what everyone else has written here...you have done tremendously! Rejoice in what you have been blessed with! It definately gets slower and harder the farther out we get (I'm 5 1/2 yrs). Just make sure you are not foolin' yourself by not using your tool properly. As with any tool, it WILL work if it is used! You can do this!!! God bless!

If your ticker is correct, you RNY did exactly what it is supposed to do. It helps people lose typically, what?, 50-80% of their excess body weight. I don't know your starting weight so I don't know what percentages look like for you but if you've got 18 lbs. left you're about there.

The 100 is not the magic number of success. My excess body weight was 180 lbs. I lost 155. So I have to hustle to get the rest off (should I decide to). But having 40 lbs. to lose is not nearly as intimidating as having 180. Just sayin.

Baby girl I can also tell you this you cant compare yourself to theirs because some where bigger than you so they had more to lose so they lost it fast and they will also slow down. So concentrate on your journey and thank GOD for what you have loss!

I can I ask a silly question?  How much did you originally want to lose?  That has a big effect on how fast the weight comes off.  I'm 19 months out and it's coming off really slow.  But then again, I have only 19 more to go and most of that is excess skin.  Keep up the GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You're doing a lot better than you realize.  A size 14 is nothing to sneeze at.

RNY on 04/10/12 with
You've lost a lot but I understand that you want to lose more. Every time I go on this website I see pictures of people losing so much weight!! I just had surgery but already have been through stalls and have a feeling that losing will be hard and slow for me. I completely understand your post and what you meant by it. All I can say is hang in there!

Wow! And I thought I wouldn't get any replies!

OK, I've read every body's post and first let me say THANK YOU.  I really needed to see that. And you are right, I do compare myself  to a lot of people on this site. But don't get me wrong, I am so HAPPY not to be 294lbs anymore! I just had a lot of expectations before surgery. On the date of surgery I was 267lbs. I thought almost two years out I would be at my goal which is 160lbs (but I'll settle for 180lbs). Of the goals I'm celebrating:  My knees don't hurt anymore, I can ride a roller coaster because the safety bar closes now, I can shop at most stores now and I do have a lot more energy. So yes, let me retract and say no, my RNY was not a waste of time.

But I have to stop comparing myself to others and do what it take to reach
my goal (IE-exercise and leave the Oreo's alone).

Thank you again and God bless you all!

Because I was hungry, I ate,
Twenty dinners all heaped on one plate.
Though high in nutrition,
Caloric addition,
Meant more acquisition of weight!

If it feels good, do it!  And if it smells good, eat it!

Not for nothing love . . . you looked double your current size in your pre-op pics!  I know it is hard to see ourselves.  You look fantastic!!!  Workout some more and get clean on your food selections and portion sizes so you can get to your goal weight and body.

Blessings,
Leila
