Where have I heard that before?

How did I not know of this product?  It is entirely new to me.  Apparently it's a new formula.

WheyUP is a whey protein isolate drink with caffeine and other bouncy things. It's like having your PROTEIN IN YOUR ENERGY DRINK.

Hear me out.

From the WheyUP guys -

"WheyUP contains whey protein which is a natural, high-quality protein from cow's milk. It is a rich source of the essential amino acids needed by the human body on a daily basis. Amino acids are one of the most important elements for the maintenance of good health and vitality. WheyUP's other ingredients, caffeine and b-complex vitamins give you just the right amount of energy needed to make it through your busy day.

With WheyUP, getting energized and adding healthy protein to your diet has never been easier. The all purpose, great tasting health drink in a single bottle.

Grape Punch ingredients:

filtered water, whey protein isolate, citric acid, natural and artificial flavor, d-glucuronolactone, sodium citrate, fruit and vegetable juices for natural color, caffeine, sucralose, inositol, niacinamide (vit. Whey protein isolate is the preferred protein for gastric bypass patients after surgery, that is a win.   WheyUp contains 20 grams of whey protein isolate, which is about one third of the average daily needs of a typical gastric bypass post op.

As to the caffeine?  150 mg.  That sounds like a lot.

It's not.

"But, MM, my doctor said!"

Here is your BIG FAT DISCLAIMER -

Your MM ain't no bariatric surgeon.  Ain't no nutritionist and sure as hell ain't your common sense.

It's like having a cup of coffee, with 20 grams of whey protein isolate in it.  Many of you already do this, mix a scoop of whey protein into your morning coffee.  Lots of bypass'ers use the protein as a means to having coffee in the first place.  Am I right?  Right.  Of course you do.

The ASMBS suggests the avoidance of caffeine immediately after surgery and you may reintroduce later.(ASMBS Allied Health Nutritional Guidelines for the Surgical WeightLoss Patient)  Caffeine is not a diuretic under normal cir****tances, and with a gastric bypass, it's not going to cause an ulcer.

Ask your doctor, again, I am not your doctor, thank you.

In comparison?

I drink five shots of espresso over ice when we are out (once a week, when I get the chance) and I brew espresso beans at home.  I drink upwards of a pot of brewed 'bucks beans a day, I sip coffee pretty much all day long.  I am not affected negatively by caffeine.  As a headache sufferer, caffeine is a friend, not foe. Which means, this product, makes sense for me in place of coffee at times, to get some protein in.  I can see it being beneficial as a morning drink, because I rarely, if ever, eat anything.

So, MM, How Does It TASTE?

SXCgwLAyAgnqbvunOZ5CHM7ko1_500

Smell?  Grape-y.  Not unlike the grape flavor sugar-free drink mix I've been digging lately.

Taste?

Puckery grape, if that is a word, and clearly it is because spell check did not pick it up.  It's puckery!  But, it's also sweet.  Sweet andpuckery.

Texture?

It's slightly thicker than say, grape Kool-Aid.

I'm dumping it into a glass to check closer, because I have serious floatee fear.  Nope.  No protein floaters.  Sometimes, in protein RTDS, especially isolates, you see little amoebas hanging around, there aren't any in here.  Hooray.  (I've been entirely traumatized by proteins.)

I like.  I could do this.  Mmm.

I already see myself POURING the WheyUP over ice into a BIG CONTAINER to dilute it.
It's sweet enough to make it last.  Although, it's recommended for a pre-workout drink, I don't so much chug anything, I'm a sipper.  I'd put it in a big container with ice and use it for a long walk this summer.

Protein, plus energy, plus hydration?  Oh yes please.

We could probably work on that.

I think maybe they might - WheyUP is developing at least two other flavors.

If you wanna lend me a little of your writing skills, that would be a good place to start.  I can whip out about a pretty darn good ten page academic paper in about two hours, but ask me for witty and entertaining.. and I am stumped!

So, there may be red drink and blue drink coming too!  As long as they don't go into ecto cooler territory, I am ready to drink up!

I lend out my academic skills, including math, all the time!  My hubby and BFFs can all give me letters of recommendations.. I guess technically that means they are cheaters and I am a colluding to help them... but since I love doing school work, and my peeps like As we are all ok with that, lmao.
