Be more specific...pancreatitis?    Reactive hypoglycemia?   There are a number of pancreatic pathologies some of which are more common post RNY.   Susan

If you have not had your gall bladder out, rapid weight loss can trigger gall stones which can block the pancreatic duct, and cause the attacks you are describing.

hth, and good luck,

fred

YES, Yes, and yes!  I can vouch for that!

I had pancreatitis in '94 after being on a liquid protein diet, dropped over 100 pounds.  Seems that my gallbladder created gallstones, spit them out into the bile duct and wedged themselves in there pretty well.  I was in ICU for almost a month back then.  Severely ill.

Only way to heal the pancreas from such sever pancreatitis is nothing to drink or eat, you have to rest the pancreas completely.

I was in A LOT of severe pain.  If you start sweating, feeling cold, and vomitting, call an ambulance.  This is not to be ignored.

I no longer have a gallbladder.

Best of health to you.

Sincerely,
Donna

Acute pancreatitus in 1999. Now there's a pain I'll be quite happy to NEVER have to feel again for the rest of my life.  Indescribable...

Problems with gall stones are very common post-WLS, and along with the gall stones can come pancreatitis. VERY PAINFULL!
