In order for MOST Lap Banders to be successful during the losing phase because we don't have extra help like malabsorption, once we are at optimal restriction for weight loss we should keep our calories between 800-1200 per day in order to lose weight IN ADDITION TO SOME FORM EXERCISE. -- AT LEAST 4-5 days per week.

Ideally most of our calories should come from lean proteins -- at least 80 grams per day, if you have room left you can eat some veggies.  I was instructed to limit my fruit to almost NONE, DURING WEIGHT LOSS, RNY FOLKS EAT LIKE THIS TOO...the only difference IS they malabsorp some of their calories in the beginning and can get SICK if they eat too many carbs or sugar...WE LAP BANDERS DON'T GET SICK, so we must have discipline to stay away from ANY SUGAR ON OUR OWN.

Unfortunately this IS HOW THE LAP BAND WORKS.  Your WLS continuing education instructor does not know what they are talking about if they tell you, you can't drink diet tea, I lost weight rapidly by drinking diet tea EVERY DAY.....I lived off those diet green teas WHICH ARE SWEET.....

A tip...you may want to steer clear of Lean Cuisines the sodium content IS VERY HIGH....you will do better cooking your own food, I lost 8 pounds in ONE week baking my own whole moist juicy chicken eating and unlimited quantities, usually you will get really full quick by eating solid proteins and things like sauteed spinach I use butter, grilled in onions and sprinkled with splenda to give it taste...

Also another tip ..the more you walk the more you can have treats like weigh****chers ice cream, I would not lose ONE pound if I did not walk daily.

Also with the band once you get in maintenance mode you can eat what you want ...as long as you still exercise and limit high calorie sweets like donuts, candy and sugary sodas....

D,

I read your post twice.  What little f*ckers.  Really.  Its just mind boggling.  I sincerely hope you get your revision.  You deserve it.

What about asking them to present you the "rules" in writing?  Make them write in  your chart that you are not sure what they want and that YOU WANT EVERYTHING IN WRITING.  It could work.

Hey Big D...I haven't heard any of those rules.

The "rules" as presented to me (so far) are:

Eat 1/2 to one cup of food per meal
Get 60 gr lean dense protein per day
Keep Carbs below 125 gr per day and make sure I get plenty of fiber (this includes some fresh fruit)
Keep Fat below 50 gr per day
The total if this is followed is about 1200 calories per day
Avoid Alcohol, except occasionally
Drink 64 oz water or other non-carbonated, non caloric beverage per day
Get some exercise daily
Avoid trouble foods like breads, pasta and rice
Avoid "white" carbs, refined sugar, flour and syrups

That's pretty much it and it jives with what most bandsters I know do per their doctor and nutritionists.

Ouch...was basically just  trying to support you and the premise of your post which I took to be a complaint about your surgeon's inconsistent rules...sorry.
