Not sure.  Ask Diana C, she is the font of all wisdom :)

I found this after doing a simple google search.

You check with the state medical board and get information about credentials, disciplinary action, malpractice claims, etc.

Here's his listing: http://wwwapps.ncmedboard.org/Clients/NCBOM/Public/LicenseeI nformationDetails.aspx?&EntityID=9072&PublicFile=1

I found the following four comments on vitals.com about your surgeon:

RUN,RUN....RUN

His opinion of himself is much greater than his surgical abilities show. In the event of a problem(and there will be)he minimizes the issue. Often he withholds information from the patient and family. He tends to become frustrated when problems arise and appears to make decisions based on his frustrations. I wish we knew more beforehand and avoided years of medical events, multiple surgeries and life altering consequences.Do yourself a favor and check NC Medical Board for his qualifications and malpractice history.

STAFF IS SLOPPY AND UNPROFESSIONAL.

I have been a 'patient' since spring 2009. I have now switched surgeons. Dr V is very personable and friendly - goes out of his way to make sure the procedures and risks are understood. However, I have only met with him once during the past year years (no surgery as of yet either!!). The staff, on the other hand, is this practice's downfall. Numerous emails and phone calls (all of which seem to be routed to voice mail, no matter what time during office hours I called) have all gone unanswered - UNLESS I make it a point to tell the receptionist that I HAVE called repeatedly and will NOT leave another voice mail. Faxes and letters from various scans and psychiatric offices have ALL gone 'missing' whenever I have called to check on whether they have received anything. Leaving me to have to chase up multiple copies of said letters for the SEB staff. Funny enough, the staff would return calls and follow up appointments by phone - UNTIL the day my final payment (all services, pre and post op are grouped together in your choice of 'Plan' - mine being over $1600 out of pocket) was received. Then I never heard from anyone again. It has actually been MONTHS since I finalized all pre-op requirements and, after all the phoning to check status - I gave up. Figured they'd call ME when they were ready to move onto surgery scheduling. As I say, I haven't heard from them in nearly 6 months (the last few phone calls I made have still not been returned!). I am now looking elsewhere. IF Dr V. is a great surgeon, I'll now never know. His staff and the apathetic approach they have to dealing with such a personal and emotional process has nearly ruined this experience for me.

STAFF HELPS SINK SHIP
Reviewer: Sheila Haynes

Good morning!!I pray that you and your family enjoyed the 1sy day of spring. I am concerned Kim that for some reason this facility does not want Dr Voellinger to help me help myself. Your statement on Monday about email when the paper work from my nutritionst was faxed on the 23rd of February. Plus to get a denial letter when they had sent you papers on February 12th and your office had until March the 6th to reply and your office did nothing! Why? And here we are at March 19th with me coming by the office on the 15th.I will send copies of the same 6-month program to both listings and go from there. At this point and time trust is the key to all communications and transactions. When I left your presence on Monday, you had found my faxed paperwork and you were sending it out in the mail that day. If it went in Tuesday's mail that is fine also. I have been diligent and waiting on your team and some where down the road the ball was dropped. When your office called me I infprmed them that my primary care had placed me on a 6-month program and I had recent verification. To re-hash the past is a futile endeavor. Now we should all be on the same page. Are we??? God is God!!!

He is so unprofessional and rude. I would not recommend him at all.

He must have made some staffing changes. I haven't had any issues with him or his staff thus far (3+ months into the process). At my consult with him he spent alot of time discussing surg options. He suggested the RNY, but I said I wanted the DS and he had no problem with it.  Every time I've called, I've been routed to the person whom I needed. Staff has bent over backwards to be helpful and friendly to me and my spouse. (And final payment was made a month ago, and I'm still getting friendly and helpful office people...at all appts they have taken their time with me and answered all questions I had.)I am sorry those others had problems, but none so far here. I'll let you know how things go.
When push comes to shove....shove hard!

Never regret anything, because at one time it was exactly what you wanted.

In NY State you can check with Albany at Physicians Discipline and Misconduct and there search for your physician and see if he/she has any "charges" against them. Other states likely have something similar.

An OH review:

Well I wasn’t going to say anything but I am discussed by all the positive things people have to say about Dr. Brader. I to thought that Dr Brader was a nice guy till I had surgery. He had very bad bedside manner while I was still in the hospital, very short tempered. From there things only get worse!!! About two weeks after surgery I started to poop and through up blood, of course it had to be a Saturday so I called the emergency line and they patched me through to Dr. Brader. I told him what was going on and he told me not to worry about it. Boy was he wrong I ended up collapsing and having to call and ambulance. I then was stuck in the E.R. for 6 hours because the ER Doctor couldn’t get a hold of Dr. Bader. And Because of his neglect I almost had a scope put down my throat which would have messed up my unhealed stomach. Finally the next day late after noon Dr. Brader finally showed up, Pretty much yells at me. He told me that I was his second worst patient he has ever had ( compared to some lady that eat to much chicken and exploded her stomach and died) . He also told me that he turned off his phone on purpose because he didn’t want to be bothered (Knowing I was bleeding). After that he has never been supportive he doesn’t answer my questions. My most recent issue has been me not being able to eat after have a cold. I had a Upper GI done and which was fine and when I went to see Dr Brader he didn’t let me speak and keep telling me that it is because I wasn’t eating right and over eating. I tried to tell him that wasn’t the case. But he just wasn’t trying to hear anything I had to say. I really don’t want to have to go back to see him, Its just a shame that no other Bypass Dr will see me. I have called all the surrounding cities (Hershey , Harrisburg, and Reading) and I was denied by all. I just can’t believe my health my suffer now. I know I’m just one Person I just hope that others may speak up, if this is happening to you. I would no way shape or form, would I want anyone else to go through what I am going through now with Dr. Brader. Even though I am only one person you could be the next. so just think twice about it! The Office staff is awesome though!! Oct. 30, 2009

I just happened across your post. I'm sorry that you've had such a bad experience. I haven't had my surgery yet, but feel very fortunate to have a Surgeon that has told us about fixing other surgeons botched up messes. So he is a Surgeon that would see you. However, I live in Pensacola,  FL. Haven't heard about this Surgeon you have except here, but I do say that if a Dr. won't listen to you, he isn't worth keeping. Also, there are Dr's out there that unfortunately do not treat all their patients the same or have the same respect for all.

Actually, I'm going there to protest the protesters.  I've already talked to my lawyer about it.
