Hi, you may also come accross gastric plication surger/super sleeve.  GPS isn't a super sleeve.  I have it and had very little restriction from 4 weeks out, so save your time, money and effort with this one.

I'd go the VSG/DS route, as I only lost 17lbs.  I need to lose 30 more to get into the healthy range, so I'm having to go back to good old fashioned diet and excercise, as there aren't many revision options post VSG - getting a band put over the top maybe, but you already know all about the band from this thread! ;-)

I had my band removed on April 12th.  Now I have the sleeve and what a difference.  I'm a mother and if I were in your place the sleeve would be a great tool for your daughter...it might be just the boost she needs to get out of her depression.

The band was horrible, throwing up every day.  I could not eat meats or eggs, some days I could not swallow my own spit.  All this would add to her depression.  It certainly weighed on me and I felt like a failure.  My port area was always sore and I could not wear pants with a band.

Being an overweight 16 year old is so hard...I know from experience and to have PCOS on top is really tuff.  Do what you can for her to make life easier. You're a great mom for looking into WLS.

Also, the surgery from the band to the sleeve was very hard due to the scar tissue and I had quite a bit of adhesions on my liver from the band.

Now that I have the sleeve life is normal and no pain.

I wish you and your daughter well!

BTW the following stats on the average percentage of Excessive Weight Loss (EWL), may be of interest:

Lapband      55%
VSG           70%
DS             80%

So if she had 100lbs to lose you could expect her to lose 55, 70 and 80lbs respectively.
