Did a letter of medical neccesity help you get approved?

My surgeon's office gave me 3 or 6 month pre-op diet option. I picked the 3 month. Today after being denied by BCBS of TN for not enough "info" and not being on a six month diet (if I had have known that it had to be six with no option for a three month pre-op this would not be up here), I was wondering did a letter of medical neccesity help speed things up? I won't get graphic but I have skin irritation where my excess skin is. My doctor said it would go away with weight loss. Did the letter help speed things up?

LOMN helps a lot, yes.  Talk to your PCP.

I didn't need one but it wouldn't hurt. Go for it.

I have BCBS of TX.  I needed a letter, and it helped.  I actually got it from my chiropractor, but they accepted it.  It just basically said we had discussed my weight at each visit (which were several times a month), and listed my weights for the last 6 months.

I have CIGNA ins. they denied me first then asked for more info from nut. then approved me 3 days later.

 My insurance (Anthem) requires a letter for WLS.

My insurance required six months supervised diet, AND TWO letters of medical necessity.

After I jumped through those hoops.... the information was submitted at 5 pm one day (I know, beccause I submitted it, I was tired of the person at the surgeon's office sitting on it)....and was approved by 10 am the next day.

was it hard getting all the information from the doctor office? Was the submitting process hard.
