Atheist Devotional #242--Cloudy Saturday with a chance of RAPTURE!

I think I'm just going to tell my manager I'm not putting up with it no matter if he has to work extra hours.  That's what he's paid for after all.  If he didn't want the extra responsibility he should have stayed a peon like the rest of us.  I don't think she'll quit any way.

She's a horrid liar as well.  Told us she speaks seven languages, yet I've yet to hear her speak proper English, said she was given a 26 carat diamond for an engagement ring only to have her fiance killed in the twin towers, that she is getting half a million in a divorce settlement.  Bearing in mind that her oldest is as old at 9/11 so how can she be getting engaged and having kids with her husband at the same time giving her religious attitude wouldn't allow for adultery. The list goes on.

Thing is she is one of the nicest people you'd want to meat very self deprecating and  bends over backwards to do stuff for you, so I feel like a real meanie for being mad about her trying to "convert" me.  What ever the hell that is.  I've been an Atheist for well over 25 years and I'm not changing any time soon. Crap, I hate situations like this.

Luckily for you you didn't get fired or discriminated against once your boss found out you don't believe in magical fantasy stories.  Being an atheist is like riding in a car with a bunch of drunks, but no one will pull over to let you drive.
I think I've spent my entire LIFE in that car.

I'd have to say that there's Christian and there's crazy.    Guess which one she may fall into?? :D

PLUS... I'm a Christian who doesn't believe in pushing it upon others. If I wasn't a Christian, I'd be more inclined toward Agnosticism than Atheism, but that's because I'm always hedging my bets! :D

Yea, I think she's nuts too.  She told me she couldn't remember a prayer for a special rosary so she went to two priests in two towns and neither knew what she was talking about so she was writing the Pope to tell him he needed to reprimand them for being lazy and for acting like she was, in her words, coo coo.

I can only imagine those poor guys thoughts as she was going on and on with that crazy talk.

Today is the first day I'll see her since the manager tried to talk to her about all this so we shall see what I walk into today.  I'm hoping she's going to keep her trap shut but I somehow doubt it.

  • While there’s no mention of any “raptureÂ" in the entire Bible, that hasn’t stopped American Christians from completely making up one of the tenets of their homespun religion.
  • So where did they get this from? Just a random line in Thessalonians 1 about dead people plucked from their graves, which is basically an echo of that nonsense in Matthew 27:53 (and nowhere else in the Gospels) about corpses bursting out of their graves and then haunting Jerusalem for a few hours while Jesus was busting out of His tomb.
  • The English language noun rapture comes from the Latin verb rapi? and the Koine Greek ??π?ζω, which means “snatch.Â" But not that kind of snatch. Our version actually comes from the Latiin rapere — which means “rape.Â" So the rapture literally means “a bizarre fantasy about being raped by Jesus, in the upper atmosphere.Â"

Well LeaAnn,

This has always been my personal philosophy:  I rather BELIEVE in the Bible and find out in the end that it is not true, than to NOT BELIEVE, and find out in the end that it was ABSOLUTELY THE TRUTH!

It doesn't hurt me to believe and have faith in my Heavenly Father God.  I don't and have never tried to FORCE my belief on anyone.  All who will believe in the Bible, must believe willingly and by faith.  I live a life dedicated to what I believe in and if asked how and why I can smile, sing, and be relaxed and at peace in such a troubled world, then I give my ANSWER - THAT I BELIEVE IN MY GOD!  If further questioned, then I give further explaination.

I don't judge anyone on THEIR OWN PERSONAL BELIEFS, and I don't fight them.  One thing that I DO know for sure is that WE ALL WILL DIE ONE DAY!  When that time comes for me, I will look forward to what I believed in.  If there is TRUTH there, then OH! How happy I will be to live life eternal with my Lord and Savior.  If there is no truth in what I believed, then guess what?  IT WON'T EVEN MATTER - WILL IT?  But this IS TRUTH:  NONE of us will know for SURE until THE MOMENT AFTER WE DIE!!!

Blessings to you, and have a great day!
Always,
Rose

So Rose, with all respect, are you saying that if you "believe" in order to hedge a bet, that "God" won't know the truth???  I don't know how one believes when one is just choosing to believe in case something one believes in turns out to be true...

I BELIEVE PERIOD!

I believe in God, and the Bible, which I believe the be the Written Word of God! It's my choice!  I don't challenge you or try to convience you in my belief, so please don't try to challenge or change my views based on my belief - with all respect!

It was a simple statement.  However, I didn't think everyone would understand what I was saying, but it really doesn't matter.  Like I said, I don't "struggle" over who believes what they believe.  My main concern is that I stay true to myself and my beliefs, and that I live my life true - according to what I believe.  This way, I've lived a blessed and peaceful existence.

With that, God bless you! :o)

Sorry Rose, but it wasn't a challenge, just asking for clarification.  Thank you.
