My doc says to keep portions at around 2 oz, but I get so hungry that I end up eating about 4 or 5 oz of food. I'm worried about screwing everything up. I'm only 3 months post op. Not doing anything "bad" or "wrong" it's just the portions I'm having trouble with. I do have a scale and measuring cups. I'm just hungry - real hunger.  Has anyone else dealt with this?

You can stretch your pouch, so remind yourself that this is a tool you have to work with. Always eat your protein first. I find that proteins are very filling and if I put them ahead of other foods, I usually have no room for the other stuff. Make those proteins dense. Try chicken, beef or fish. Even though there is protein in things like peanut butter, yogurt, nuts, cheese and cottage cheese, I find it really does not fill me up. Good luck.

How fast are you eating?  Try to slow your meal down until it takes about 20 minutes to eat.  Time your bites if you have to - see if that helps.  'They' say it takes 20 minutes for the 'full' signal to kick in.

The only thing that causes hunger is eating carbs.  The best plan is to fill up on dense protein.  Four ounces of steak, pork, hamburger, chicken is fine.  Cut into small pieces and chew thoughly.   You will not screw up your surgery if you eat a lot of carbs and slider foods, but you will not have as much lean muscle and will have a harder time with maintenance.

Make sure you are not drinking with your meals. That cuts down how much you eat by a lot. Eating with meals allows the food to wash down and you will be able to eat more. Drinking 30 minutes after eating keeps you from overeating.

Not able to eat beef or pork yet. I only eat fish, turkey and chicken. I can have some veggies now and some fruits. No bread, rice or pasta. There's not much that could be "cheating" at this point. I'm just worried that the 2 oz isn't enough and I'm eating closer to 4 oz at each meal about 3 times a day instead of the recommended 4-5 times a day. Its usually chicken that I "OD" on, but it has also been sashimi. I watch my times for liquids too since I know you can wash away your protein or stretch  out your stomach that way. I'm just still hungry after I eat just 2oz.  Has anyone had this problem?
