Do broth and ice tea count as part of our water intake?

As they both predominantly consist of water, I would say yes.

There is some argument that anything containing caffeine ****d tea) is a diuretic, but I think this is not so much the case if you are a regular consumer.

Absolutely. If it's liquid, it counts.

Caffeine is a VERY MILD diuretic, and people who consume it daily don't even get that effect.

Some broth has a lot of sodium in it. Sodium can dehydrate(SP) you. I don't know how much is to much. Somebody else might can tell you.

Salt is only going to dehydrate you if you're drinking sea water. It can make you retain fluids if you're not getting sufficient fluids otherwise though, so as long as your overall sodium intake isn't extreme, I wouldn't worry about it.

In my program, we are told to count any liquid (including protein shakes) that are non-caffeinated. We are allowed caffeinated drinks, we just can't count them toward our 64oz fluid requirement. It's true that the diuretic effect is very small if you are drinking sufficient non-caffeinated fluids, but I think it's a good habit to think of them as separate to avoid over-consuming them at the expense of fluids that allow more efficient hydration.
