What is food? Why does it have so much control over us?
Whatever it takes....think of it this way....you figured out what you need to do and you are doing it....Sending you a "BIG HUG"!!!! You can do it....and you can be happy and comfortable in your own skin!

Food is right up there with air and water. It is the most basic of human needs. If it were not pleasurable, humans would have died out long ago. We are driven to do things that give us pleasure.
The big problem is the food we have available now. It isn't natural, but it is the kind that leads to cravings. It is only recently that people had such an abundant supply of food that they don't have to work for (exercise.) We have managed to turn foods into drugs by processing them to remove the natural fiber, thereby making them calorie dense and nutrient sparse.
It's complicated. I am experiencing something right now that I am a bit puzzled over. I am sort of on a permanent vacation. I just retired, I am at the beach by myself and I can do what I want when I want. This has lead to a feeling of peace. I don't want to stuff myself to calm my anxiety over doing something that I really don't enjoy (work.) I always suspected that work made me fat!!!
I just had the most incredible apple and pear for a snack. They still had the leaves on them, that's how fresh they were. Tasted better than any junk food or dessert, really. I feel like eating healthier, I feel like being more active and now I finally have my chance to do it. I won't always be at the beach where the food is incredible, but I will have time to shop for the things that I like that are good for me. More importantly, I will have the time to prepare them.
My point is, we eat and we eat the wrong things because we are searching for some pleasure in a world that isn't always to are liking. Food is one way to alleviate boredom, anxiety, depression and everything else that ails us. Food it the substance that fills in lots of cracks.
It isn't always easy to find a healthy replacement for the food addiction. I am amazed the so many are actually successful at it. It has always been a struggle for me. That is why I am confused right now because I am not "head hungry" like I usually am.
I hope this trend continues.
