Protein powders are up to the post ops personal tastes.  You may have to try several before you find one you prefer.  Personally, I preferred a generic unflavored whey isolate protein that I still use today at 5 years post op. I mix it with foods, or make my own flavored shakes with it. DAVE

Hey Dave

Besides the taste, what else are we looking for in a good protein?

I've read that the higher the concentration of whey protein, the better.

100% whey isolate protein is generally considered the best. More bang for your buck, easier to digest and very absorbable. Whey isolate also has 99% of lactose filtered out, which may be a plus with many post ops.  I've always tried to shy away from mixes of several proteins. Whey concentrate is probably 2nd best, but does have the lactose still in it.  Soy protein would probably be 3rd.  There are several other proteins out there, but have less protein per volume, and are not likely as absorbable--egg protein, rice protein, etc. DAVE

 Thanks for the clarification, Dave.

I've noticed that Unjury sits on my stomach a lot easier than the other protein powders and it's the whey isolate kind.

Hi,
I'm drinking Body Fortress chocolate right now. I like chocolate and vanilla. Have never tried strawberry. I add a little fat-free, sugar-free pudding mix and blend it with a few ice cubes. Good luck.

I used it for over a year but changed to the walmart 100% pure protein because making a shake cake with the body fortress became grainy.  The body fortress is sweeter than the 100% pure protein they sell so I have to add a bit of splenda to my protein coffee in the am.  I only buy the chocolate. The body fortress cookies and cream tasted like coconut to me.

I make protein pops with the body fortress.  I use the strawberry plus sf Torani for strawberry ones and the chocolate with the sf chocolate torani syrup (those taste like fudge sickles.  Vanilla and different flavores sugar free syrup or crystal light packages makes many flavors possible.

1 cup light soy milk
2 scoops body fortress protein powder
sugar free flavoring syrup.
I mix it in my shaker bottle and it pours into 4 Popsicles molds, they have almost 15 grams of protein each.

I do this b/c I get yucked out by most protein shakes, other than the ready to drink premier nutrition from Sam's or Costco, they have 30 grams of protein for 11 oz.
