I'm hungry!!!

Just got home yesterday from RNY surgery on Monday and finally feeling more like myself...especially the "being hungry" part!  I think a lot of it may just be  my mind, but the sugar free popsicles are the only things that give me any kind of satisfaction.  I'm using the Unjury chocolate, vanilla and unflavored protein that I used pre-surgery and now they make me gag...but I have to get 80g of protein a day.  I mix the unflavored with broth, but have to choke it down...Any helpful advice on getting through this liquid phase?

Many surgeons consider sugar free Jello to be a "clear liquid." Call and ask yours. It will provide some heft and something solid which can really make a difference.

Good luck!

Keep choking it down, and doing what you can to take care of yourself.

It will get easier- promise!

I am two weeks out, and i too am choking down the injury shakes...i mix the mininum of 4 ounces of skim milk with mine, and take it in two 2 ounces shots..just to get it down. It fills me up...but has a nasty after taste now...I am at a loss.
I  got the go ahead to move on to soft foods...even to try some lunch meat from my doctor...i been eating string cheese...jello, pudding...all sugar free of course...and yogurt.
Other than that...i try to just get in all my water that I need...as I do not want to end up dyhydrated.

Good luck...just keep trucking along, and trust me, once you out of the liquid phase you will still need those protein shakes to get your 80 grams of protein a day! Sorry if that burst your bubble....just know, you are NOT alone...i am right there with ya!!  GAG GAG GAG...damn protein shakes!

"the sugar free popsicles are the only things that give me any kind of satisfaction."

I think that's because you chew them. When I was on the liquid diet, I also did sf jello because you can kind of chew that too.

I have had some luck with vegetable broth. When the family is eating dinner, I make myself a little and sip it. It is savory, so it seems more satisfying that the protein shakes. I also use Nectar Sweets protein shakes. They have a lot of flavors and don't make me gag.
I also take chewable vitamins, and that helps some with the desire to chew.
