Do Americans Hate Fat Ppl? (article)

Here's a true story of "weight stigma" occurring on my very first date.

When I was about 15, I attended a snotty, private all girls' school in Texas.

Each year, they had these very fancy cotillion dances. The guys from NMMI (New Mexico Military Institute) were bused in for the dances held on our campus.

The girls' names were posted on a board and paired up with a guy from NMMI.

After spending 4 hours of torture in the beauty salon and pouring my "slightly overweight" curvy bod into a blue, sequined festooned gown, my name was announced and  a skinny dude with Dumbo ears flapping in the breeze appeared. He wore a full dress military uniform.

We were told to hold hands and walk through an arch decorated with gaudy paper flowers. A photographer snapped our picture.

About 2 minutes later, Dumbo excused himself to go to the little Dumbo's room to go wee.

Y'all probably know where this is goin'.

Didn't see "Dumbo" again until I walked down a long hall in the school and spotted him playing cards with 3 other "ditchers" in a classroom.

I tore the photo in half, and kept only the part with me in it to remind me what I looked like on my first date.
 
P.S. I left that pretentious, boring school after 2 years and attended a public high school where I had much more fun. I raced motorcycles, shot big guns, and became an artist (martial and fine arts). Never could have done all that in the "private, perfect little ladies brainwashing school in Texas.

Now,  tell me you didn't stereotype and assume "Doc" was a male??? Naughty, naughty.

Haven't looked up your doc yet because I'm going through some nasty testing (I call it getting the "shaft") and want to have all my results together before I speak to anyone else.

Yes, I stereotyped..... even though I know better!!!!!
