13 days post-op (RNY) - Comps?????? Scared!!!
Thanks everyone. It's so nice to have support from people *****ally understand and listen. The MD office called again a few hours ago - actually, it was one of his nurses. They have no idea what is causing the pain. I've been reading articles and afraid of leaking or stones. But, they say no w/o even examining me. I guess they know best and who am I to question them? I just finished my protein drink and was in excruciating pain following each swallow. They claim it's the gas that they used in surgery. I haven't had any issues at all with that and find it hard to believe that at day 13, it's becoming an issue? Been taking Gas-X but that's not helping. Oh well, better luck tomorrow! Thanks again for your support.

My surgeons wanted to know right away if I was experiencing issues. I did not end up having any issues, but their instructions were clear. If I was in excruciating pain, they wanted to see me. For myself, if I really thought something was not right, I would insist on seeing the surgeon. That is just my opinion.
If your surgeons will not see you then you really should get yourself into the nearest ER for evaluation for the pain you are experiencing. It is VERY unlikely that the gas they used during surgery would have suddenly become an issue 13 days out when it has not been an issue up to this point. If that is going to be an issue it usually starts nearly immediately and resolves withing 7-14 days or so. If you are really experiencing that high of a degree of pain with every sip or bite then you really do need to be evaluated. Be your own best friend here and do not let doctors or anyone else brush you or your concerns under the proverbial rug.
Best of luck and remember we are here when you need us,
