Hi Shana....i just had the lapband done 2 weeks ago and i hope i do as good as you...dont no whether i nwould go for the sleeve just because i gained 40pds after having a baby...sounds like u just need to exercise again...good luck!!!!Sure she could just exercise and lose it............just like all of us could. U seem to be missing the point that HER LAP-BAND IS NO LONGER WORKING! She stated she can no longer get restriction...........therefore..........her Lap-Band is completely USELESS! She want's to get an EFFECTIVE WLS since her band is not.
It's not fair to say to her that she should just exercise to lose her weight when you have chosen to have WLS instead of just exercising. Don't you think???
I know your just 2 weeks out, and everone loves their band at that point. But the fact is that many people have failed bands. Some NEVER work. And then there are others like her where it quits working. Then yet there are so many more that develope slips/leaks/port problems/esophageal problems/etc.
Hopefully you will have better luck with your band. But often it doesn't work, or only works temporarily. You will notice that you almost never see successful bandsters out there that haven't had complication and are 5+ years out.
HI I had a band for 4 years and switched. I didnt have a good of weight loss as it sounds like you did though. They told me I might have to have two surgeries but I didnt end up having to. I think they just say that in case. Do you scar badly on the rest of your body? I do have some scar tissue I had my band the tightest it would do and didnt feel restriction either and when he went in there he said I had developed a hiatal hernia above it that is now to much scar tissue to remove or fix. So he recomended to me that I weigh everything and follow his plan strictly ( for the rest of my life) I do seem to feel full much better than I did with the band but am measuring things to be sure I dont stretch myself or make that mistake any more. I had my revision August 8th and have lost 43 lb.
Good luck. It is a good decision I feel and am happy to be loosing again but know better now that whatever surgery i have it is only a tool and my life style changes are more important!

There is a FB Failed Band Group. You might want to join that.
Glad you were able to revise!!!
I didn't have a choice about having my band removed (happened in an emergency situation), but it was the best thing that has happened to me. I also did very well with my band and lost a lot of weight, so the sleeve was my choice for a revision. I was sleeved two months after having my band removed and it is everything that the band promised it would be. I have constant, consistent restriction, little hunger and I could not be happier!
My surgeon told me that studies show that there is a better outcome for patients who wait in between surgeries b/c they can make a tighter sleeve b/c the swelling has gone down from the lap band removal and they can get a better visual of the stomach, and also there is a higher chance of leaks and complications when both are done at once so he requires all patients to wait.
At 28 months out from my revision from band to VSG, I can tell you without a doubt or regret, it was the best decision I ever made. I've had great success with VSG, and now I'm 27 days away from delivering my daughter.
Life is pretty phenomenal post-VSG. If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact me.

I had it done in one procedure. Once my revision surgeon got in, removed the band, hoards of scar tissue and damage was found, and he had no option but to perform the sleeve, he had to do something. Due to the damage from the band, I popped a leak on 2 days post-VSG, and had an extensive recovery due to all of the damage the band did in 8 short months. Essentially, he had to remove more tissue than a regular revision, and my stomach was sewn back together from 2 separate pieces. The tissue was just too damage for the staples to hold properly.
To this very day when asked "would you do it again, any regrets?" , my answer remains the same "I would honestly endure every complication, struggle and obstacle again to live the live I have had once I recovered. I have zero regrets."
