You can hide it with shape wear, but surgery is it. No lotion or anything else is going to get rid of it. How your skin comes back is all up to how old you are, how big you were, how long you were that big, and what your genetics are. Toning muscles can help, but only so much.

Nope...just more surgery.

If you don't have a bunch of excess skin, you can certainly tone up to help it drape better.

But all the exercise in the world was not helping me after losing 160 pounds.

Cold hard facts.

Use a lot of exfoliates.  The skin regularly sheds the excess skin but after surgery and fast weight loss the skin can't keep up.  So removing layers of dead skin cells from the top of the skin will make it look much better.  After defoliation use lotions with CoQ10 to restore the look and feel of smooth skin.

Working out will build up the muscles and make the skin look smoother.

Are you kidding me?  Exfoliants to get rid of excess skin?  That's like putting a bandaid on a severed artery.  All you will accomplish with that is make those quack exfoliant manufacturers (or late night or QVC pitchperson) money.

How about exfoliating with a belt sander and some 40 grit paper?  That will be more likely to help remove excess skin.

For about  $10 you can pick up both products at a drugstore.  That won't make anybody very rich and it will do wonders for dry wrinkly skin.  Skincare and building muscle will not remove excess skin, but it will make it look and feel smoother and firmer.  I started a program with weight lifting, exfoliation and anti-cellulite creams as soon as the stitches healed up from my RNY.

At 63 and without plastic surgery, my body looks like it never had any excess weight on it.
