How often do you weigh yourself and why?
The first 3 weeks out I weighed myself every day. The first 2 weeks I lost 18 pounds, but then weeks 3 and 4 I stopped dropping any weight, tho I could tell I was losing inches. I was frustrated and questioned myself. I am now 5 weeks out and since I didn't weigh myself for about a week I got on the scale and had gone down 6 more pounds. I have learned my lesson now. I was soooo focused on the scale I slacked with other stuff. Now I promised myself to only get on when I am at the doctor's office.
I just weigh myself whenever I feel like it. Probably once or twice a week, but not on any sort of schedule. why? Well, I want to keep track of where I am and catch any regain before it gets too great, but I don't want to be obsessed with the number on the scale, either.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Losing stage - sometimes 4-5 times a day (first 6 months or so)
Sliding into maintenance - twice a day
First year of maintenance - daily
First 2 trimesters of pregnant - a few times a week
End of pregnancy (like the last 4-6 weeks) - at doctor's visits because I was going nearly every week
Why??? Because I could and that's what I wanted to do. It kept me sane, accountable, and it's my personality.

I weigh myself every day or at most every couple of days. I am bipolar which when I am in a down phase I eat more carbs and less proteins which quickly can change the scale 10 lbs if I do no****ch it. A 5 lb fluctuation is not overwhelming to me however that is when I go back to 2 shakes per day and one meal.

Daily, just because I like to track stuff.. and it's interesting to me to see how certain things, activities, hormonal fluctuations etc. effect the numbers.. I also like to look for patterns along the way. If it bothered me one bit to see the scale bump up a couple lbs overnight (it frequently does as often as it goes down!), I'd stop doing it.. but since I could care less, and it doesn't change my behavior or staying on plan.. I do it out of habit and curiosity mostly. I want to continue weighing daily in maint as well, more to keep an eye on things and catch any creep before it gets past whatever my window of tolerance is..
