OT- Leaving contact lenses in too long

My cousin has had her contacts in her eyes for over 6 months without taking them out AT ALL!  Im freaking out! She keeps blowing it off. I keep tellingher, her sister and Mom and they say they know and what can they do? She blows her money on stupid stuff and does stupid things instead of taking the time to go to the eye Dr and get new lenses and have her eyes checked. I read she could go blind from corneal ulcers! I dont know how to get through to her.

 This comes just as my daughter has been diagnosed with ulcers on her cornea. Luckily she went straight to her optician at the first sign of trouble and he sent her straight to an opthalmologist at the hospital. He told her they were caused by bacteria almost certainly from her lenses. He also said that if she had left it just a couple of days longer, she could have lost her sight.

And she uses her lenses exactly as you are supposed to! Scrupulous hygiene, reguarly changed etc..

This is a very big risk to take! Your cousin is very foolish. These things don't " just happen to other people",  it could happen to her.
