Fastest (and best!) 4 years of my life
Hello All!!
I have not been on here for quite some time, but this morning I recieved my happy anniversary email from the site... not sure if anyone will care, but I thought I would write a bit about my journey for anyone in the research phase or just in the somewhat rough beginning period (aka "why did I do this?")
I cannot believe it has been that long already! I thought about bariatric surgery for quite some time, but really did not pursue until it got to the point where I could not lose even a few pounds... I was on a medically supervised diet, going to the gym about 4x a week, but just could not get the scale to budge. Then four years ago I was given a fresh start.
The first few months were hard (foamies - yeck) and I have had some hernia issues, but having the surgery was the best decision I have ever made. I went from close to 300 pounds to 150 pounds (5'8") and feel amazing! I am active, regularly take step, pilates and yoga classes and try to eat a balanced diet.
If I can be of help please send me a personal message. I'd love to be able to give anyone some of the wonderful support I received from many on this site when I was a newbie.
Best of luck!!

Your success is inspirational! I am four weeks out today and feel great, but was quite discouraged to return to work and be bombarded by people telling me about "people they know" who have gained the weight back...I have to admit I had a moment of panic! I love this board though because it shows me that there are MANY people out there who have had their lives changed in very positive ways! Thank you for sharing!
I still have not been able to figure out why others they know failed at this -- would they do the same in another situation? Maybe... I usually thank them of their concern or if I can tell it's someone *****ally cares, I'll ask them about the friends new lifestyle which it always turns out to have never even changed.
Just keep doing what you know you need to do to be successful - eat a variety of healhty foods, take your vitiamins, exercise (and find a few things you enjoy so you stay at it!!) and you will be successful!
Best of luck in your journey!
