how soon can i expect to lose weight after surgery?

I had surgery on 1-18-12 and am wondering how soon till i start to lose? I actually gained in the hospital. Any info would help.

 I gained 19 pounds in the hospital. That came off pretty quickly.  After that expect to lose 20 pounds the first month,10 pounds a month after that for about six months, then five pounds a month until one year has gone by.  That is an average, but just about what to expect.

 I had my surgery 12/30/11  lost 10 Pd's on the 2wk liquid protein diet before surgery.  Then I didn't have a weight gain in the hospital.  I'm 3 wks out from surgery & have lost 16 more Pd's.  That come's to 5Pd's a wk for the 3wks after surgery.  My Dr. said I'm doing good.. But my weight will begin to change as will my diet.  I will be off the liquid food & on to more softer food to eat.  & as I add exercise to my day it will help my weight lost.  Did they give you a resin for the weight gain in the hospital?  

 Weight gain in the hospital is because of being pumped full of gas and fluids for the surgery. That goes away in a few days. Average weight loss is about 100 pounds over about one year.

I lost 11 pounds in the first 9 days post op.  :)

I gained 6 pounds in the hospital, and it took me a full week to lose it.  Now I'm finally heading DOWN.  I've lost another 5 (at 13 days post op.)  So I'm down 11 pounds since I got home from the hospital, but only 5 since the day of surgery.
