Wherever you live look up a Bariatric Center for Excellence. Find what nearby surgeons you have and their prices. Make sure you look for one that has a good reputation, experience and rating. Look to see if they have a comprehensive program---preop care, followup, and a fitness/support group system afterwards. The good ones should have a solid followup plan for a minimum of a year.

This is not something that should be in the hands of an inexperienced surgeon nor one that is willing to operate on you and just leave you to figure the rest out.

Best of luck to you! I was a self pay as well.

His price is on the website. The second to lowest I found and more importantly he was rated one of the top 15 bariatric surgeons.

Be careful and do your homework if you are thinking of using the Dr's that are currently charging $4995. Too many bad stories out there about them for me to feel comfortable using them.
