Fat Tuesday.
I like to believe I am Julia Child in the kitchen and can just create fabulous stuff because I saw her do it years ago. Not so much. Hence the reason we eat out 99% of the time. I can make a few things well like desserts and cookies, I make the best chocolate chip cookies on earth. Lucky for me I hate chocolate chip cookies so I never eat them. lol I ****** something up once and turned it into dog bones, he ate them, really he did. Although this is the same dog who drinks out of the toilet so I guess he isn't going to be my best endorsement. lol
Hi..yes I'm pre-op. Having surgery on 5th March.. I hope like hell my sugar cravings will be gone lol! sugar/carbs actually my downfall. I would eat brownies, twizzlers, chocolates...anything like that. So if my tastes will change..thanks for that! Also..I think because of my gallbladder being gone, I believe I was having dumping syndrome even without the surgery. If I wait too long to eat and scarf or eat anything fattening...I would be laying on the floor in the bathroom..even public ones (YUCK) because the pain, vomiting, and so on... would be so intense.
I am a Nawlins girl-born and raised there, then moved to Birmingham in the late 80's. Still miss it, and try to get back for Mardi Gras festivities each year.
This year we went 2 weekends ago and had a blast....we have a rule once we cross the state line-"seafood and seafood only!" We had stuffed shrimp, great bloody marys, stuffed artichoke and we did break the rule for a roast beef po-boy. Oh, and we had king cake. Yum.
We caught a couple parades and walked all around the French Quarter....wrapped the weekend by spending the night in Biloxi at the casino.
I miss this time of year back home!

Hi MM: For me it's Fat Monday, Tuesday Wednesda Thursday, Friday, (you get the idea) everyday!
However, I think your idea is a great one. I tend to spend alot of time thinking about what I should give up for Lent and then it comes and I'm still doing whatever it was I was supposed to deny myself for or give up!! Doing something for someone else is a great idea, thanks GF! Mary

I'm not even celebrating Mardi Gras and Louisiana defines it! Really happy to say I went the entire Mardi Gras season without one bite of King Cake (last year was a different story).
My lent program is 40 bags in 40 days. I'm going to take a drawer, closet, pantry, medicine cabinet and other places in the home and purge. Some places (like my closet) will take more than one day but 40 days gives me plenty of time to clean the house of unwanted things, donate the good stuff and throw the clutter away.
