Eating alot

I'm about 3 years out from my RNY and I find that I can eat a lot and I can eat quite a bit between meals. My surgeon wants me eating around 1,600 cal. That seems like a lot for someone with a small stomach. Anybody else have this issue?

1600 calories is NOT that much food. I honestly don't know how some posters actually survive on 600 calories or so a day and still be able to function. Start tracking your intake on one of the online tools and you'll find out how much you're eating and what 1600 calories actually looks like. The less you eat, the more your body gets used to surviving on that amount and the less you will be able to eat before you gain weight. Messed up metabolism.

I asked because I've been stuck at 190 lbs for over a year. Whatever weight I manage to lose comes back in a few days and I go right back to 190. I tried Atkins for a month but was unable to survive on 20 carbs a day....I'm tryna find out if I'm really eating too much

I'm almost eight years post op, and I maintain my weight at about 1600 calories a day.  It's pretty normal.

It's not a huge amount.

I'm not tryna maintain, I'm tryna lose so should I really be eating that much? 1400 maybe?

Thanx for the info MM....according to that calculator I will maintain on 1896 cal...it's hard for me to understand why I'm not losing but I need to take a closer look at what I'm putting in my mouth I guess.

I think the RNY and subsequent starvation diets we do have a lot to do with it.

I've noticed that I can maintain on 10 calories per pound per day -- 1600 most of the time = 160/170 lbs.  It just is, at my height.  I have no science to it -- is just is.

It's just that I've been tryna get this weight off for a long time and nothing seems to work. I'm almost to the point where I feel I should accept 190 lbs and just be okay with it.

I'm with you -- I'm shorter than you -- and sitting at 169-170 lbs and this is where I keep landing.  I don't want to be this weight -- but this is just where I land.
