Marijuana is addictive, just as alcohol is addictive.  Most who use don't become addicted; about 10 percent do.  Depends on one's individual body chemistry.  Same as alcohol.  Has nothing to do with willpower or how strong we think we are -- has to do with biochemistry.  Qualification to make this statement:  Master addiction counselor with 30 years' experience.

I realize I'm chiming in rather late but just wanted to add my voice to the "moderation" chorus.

Always have failed to see much difference between a hit off a joint or a drink, except that pot does absolutely NOTHING for me and never has. I do, however, like Anne, have the occassional (sp?) glass of wine and I have not become cross addicted. Which is pretty remarkable, considering I tend to have a very compulsive, all or nothing, personality.

We're all different, and fortunately for you, you get to choose your own road.

Best of luck to you on your journey=)

can you? sure, should you? that is a completely different question.
post op any WLS - is best not to drink or smoke... yet people do that all the time.
You are an adult.  You have to decide what is good for you.

Sidsid, would you report back after the fact? I'd be interested to hear your experiences.

I'm not a user and couldn't risk my husband's security clearance for his job just to get high. But I'm still interested in what you experience.

In terms of health/ulcers, make your own decision I don't care what you smoke. But, since over eating and lack of exercise and self control have been a problem in the past... A problem so bad you had your organs mutilated, smoking weed is probably not a good idea. But I ain't cho mother.

"Organs mutilated" sounds like an obesity bashing comment. I dont think you are in a position to make a comment like " a problem so bad you had...." without knowing more about me.

perhaps you have the wrong forum, people on this forum might find that comment offensive.

Too many people make judgements about M use when they have no idea that there are occasional smokers sitting next to them - at work, at a family gathering, their family doctor, their pastor or rabbi.

I am in the medical profession and many controlled people have a puff once in a while.

My intent was not to bash obesity or WLS, and I'm sorry you were offended. My intent was to tell you to check yourself before you wreck yourself- specifically the tiny new stomach you have. One bad case of the munchie, and a few too many pretzels and you can do some damage. Remember this is a lifestyle change. Take a moment to consider that part of your lifestyle may have been contributing to why you are searching out WLS.

It really sounded to me like you were looking for one paticular answer, not some honest opinions. I can tell you what you want to hear:

Getting stoned is great idea, go for it!

No don't want to hear that, want an experience from someone who has had surgery and tried it.
All part of the research, I have no problem obstaining.  Surgery in 6 weeks.
Still looking for  first hand experience post surgery. Perhaps there is none

I offered you some, actually. I smoked for 6 months immediately after surgery and a little went a long way - same for drinking alcohol.

Thanks appreciate it!, did you use it to help with nausea soon after Surgery? or just recreationally?
I have used to to help as a medicantion ( for anything).
