Dr called, iron still low
Have you tried tender irons from vitalady.com= they are carbonyl iron with the vitamin C already in them - they are easy to absorb, non=constipating and easy on the stomach. They are 60mg capsules = if your ferritin is that low you would need to take atleast 3 at a time to start = that should increase your level - you might need more but it would be good start. YOu can take them all together but not within 2-4 hours of any calcium or thyroid medication.
There is another iron that works really well but it is pretty expensive, so I always recommend the tenders first - they are called Proferrin - you take 2 at a time but you have to break them in half and you take them without vitamin C and also not within 2-4 hours of calcium or thyroid meds. Some people need to take a combination of the 2 with really tough iron level and ferritin levels to bring up.
The tenders work great on ferritin levels which is what your problem is so I would start there.
Before you go through an getting an infusion, I would try this iron, if you havent' already taken it

I would recommend trying the tenders first - they are so much cheaper - they can get the bottle of 400 which has the vitamin C in them (make sure you get th 60mg ones) and take 3 of them at bedtime and not within 2-4 hours of your iron or thyroid medication and you will be fine
The manufacturer says you can take it with calcium with they are doing research and finding that it isn't true - it is absorbed better if taken the same as other iron - 2-4 hours away from calcium and thyroid medication, so if the meal is a high dairy meal, you wont absorb it as well - I wouldnt' want to chance it with my bones in case it was right
It probably would be safer to take my iron and calcium separately, but I know me and remembering to take vits multiple times a day. I can manage 2, at most 3 times a day.
