Anxious
The farther along I get in this process, the more anxious I get. I've never had major surgery, I hate artificial sweeteners, and I'm not crazy about meat. I'm terrified I'll go through surgery and not succeed. However, I hate my current health and medications too.
Today, my biggest worry is that I'll never eat certain foods again. Please tell me that someday I can eat a bite or two of carbs and not just meat. I see people on here eating nothing but 800 calories of protein and still not at goal.

You MUST eat carbs!!! I know all surgical offices are different, but my office requires that I see a nutrionist. My nutritionist tells us we need 21g of protein and 30g of carbs at every meal. I usually use my carbs as fruit (an orange is 15g!) and I eat whole wheat breads, whole grain rice, whole wheat pasta, etc! I am almost 7 months post-op and I have lost 74 pounds and I lose a steady 1-2 pounds (sometimes 3 or 4) a week still! I eat all my protein and carbs and I am still losing! I also exercise which helps. I know some people think carbs are awful but carbs are where you get your energy, you NEED them!! :) Do some research on your own and ask your doctor! And I am not a huge meat fan either, I eat lots of beans such as lentils and nuts and cheeses to up my protein count. I also eat a LOT of fish and seafood, all grilled of course (I strictly stay away from anything fried!). And as for the artificial sweetners, I only use one splenda a day in my trenta (30 oz!) size passion tea from Starbucks and it is heaven! I just get the tea, no syrup or anything and I add one splenda, it's fabulous! The rest of the time, my sweet stuff is from fruit. I do have sugar free candy on occasion or sugar free pudding, but give it time and you will NOT miss sugar! Good luck to you and don't worry so much, you'll do great!
I am almost 2 years out and i can eat just about anything, carbs of course. But i get full real fast on them, i use wraps instead of bread, and eat pasta but very little, but if i want some i have some, just alot less.
I eat lots of fruit and vegis.
You will eat a variety of things. Carbs are necessary just try and stay away from the bad ones, white carbs, processed stuff and quick prepared things.
But sometimes you have to give in and have that little piece of something. Wouldn't recommend that until you are at goal though. It can really stop your weight loss.
Hope that helps.
