Perhaps a balance with regard to point of view might be helpful- both health and appearance are important. And it is a good idea to keep health first and foremost, as well as live a healthy lifestyle.

"Support fosters your growth. If you are getting enough of the right support, you will experience a major transformation in yourself. You will discover a sense of empowerment and peace you have never before experienced. You will come to believe you can overcome your challenges and find some joy in this world." Katie Jay

Thats one point a lot of folks didnt keep the balance.
When i started modearting a support group I had to keep the balance in check I was up in front of 30 folks and all eyes were on me. I kept it real. Our group was honest up front we talked about  real issues real problems. One meeting was just to real and it ended in tears.
now support groups are not about that its about how to deal with surgery and the few months afterwards.
Our support group was not hepa friendly.  so I was told my free services were no longer needed and the group disbanded. All because we were about keeping it real and having BALANCE is what caused us to have surgery and how we handed it afterwrds.
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
