Sometimes it's the 'rude ass' comments that are the most helpful in the long run.

Yeah, it's not like you have any experience or anything. (*grin*)

M3angels, I had my surgery i***** and I remember that oysters was on the same list as citrus, cocunut, some meats, lettuc, just about all raw vegetables, popcorn, rice, pasta (spaghetti the most) and more.  I followed my doctors advice pretty close.  Here I am 18 years later and STILL have foods that my body rejects.  So, I have choices; 1.  I could have eaten a barbequed pork sandwich on the way home from the hospital.  2.  Ice Cream does not hurt my tummy at all, I can stay the same weight I was back then.  3.  I can follow my docs advice, KNOWING THAT I WILL STILL TRY TO EAT SOME FOODS TOO EARLY (OR IN MY CASE, THAT WILL CAUSE PAIN AND SICKNESS).

Yes oysters are soft, however they are a muscle and VERY difficult to chew long enough to pulverize, and I have tried them a couple years back, even steamed.  For me~~ my choice at year one, was no.  I was already having issues with other foods that I did not chew up enough.

You really have the answer.  The real question is; If I eat raw oysters this weekend, am I willing to have to excuse myself from the party because "I swallowed something wrong", and ruin the entire day for some oysters?

Just a bit of insight from someone that has tried it.  Good luck with YOUR decision.

Sadly with a band, it is far more than the possibility of having to excuse yourself.

It is the risk of slippage if she gets sick from advancing her eating beyond what is suggested by her medical professional.

Bands need time to settle into the stomach and gentle eating for several weeks is a necessary part of the process.

Bands have the lowest success rate when the rules are followed carefully.

It is dangerous

You are a freaking mess, what don't you understand about the diet that was laid out by your doctor? Are you TRYING to hurt yourself? I say go for it, see how many of those bad boys you can squeeze in there before you give yourself chest pain again. Maye sure you post about it as soon as you are done.
