Thanks for the post!!! As a pre-op (surgery Tuesday 5/22), I find this post very inspiring as well as very encouraging!!! Thank you to all who have shared!! I cannot wait until I am one of you sharing my journey with newbies like me!!
Wow. Only 5? Let's see:
1. My health has improved: low/normal blood pressure, normal cholesterol, normal blood sugar, no sleep apnea and greatly reduced knee pain.
2. I'm not only mobile, I'm active. I average over 10,000 steps per day according to my tracker.
3. I fit better in space: behind the steering wheel, in an office chair, in plane seats...
4. I can find stylish clothes. I can even wear juniors. Yeah, I'm 50 but there are some cute things in the juniors sections!
5. I have so much more energy and confidence. I don't try to fade into the background and I'm not self-conscious about my appearance any more.

As a newbie, thank you all for your words of encouragement. You are all gorgeous and your posts made me smile on a gloomy NYC day.
I have an appointment with my possible surgeon (Alfons Pomp at NY Presbyterian) and am going through a rough couple of days anticipating what will be asked and, of course, worried that he won't take my case. I'm hopeful because I know four people that have had surgery over the last 3 years and 3 were lightweights like me (I'm almost not a lightweight anymore, .8 and I'm at the magic 40 BMI number.)
So keep it up, you are inspirations to all of us!
