I work in corrections in medical. They have to provide you with your basic medical needs and I have seen PLENTY of inmates on special diets. However if your meds are a little different they may need to get approval for these meds from the central pharmacy and they do that on a case by case basis. Just "kite" or write a letter to the medical department and make them aware of your special needs they may have to get your medical records from other doctors ect but they can do that with your approval.

If you have to be incarcerated, your medical dietary needs must be met to the best of their abilities.  People with diabetes, vegetarians, jewish people, muslims all get their dietary needs met as long as things are worked out in advance.  Since you know you may be going in, I would talk to your attorney about this so that he/she can coordinate with the warden.  As someone else suggested, I would be proactive and actually go to your surgeon's office and other Dr.s offices and get copies of your medical records to bring with you as proof of what meds/supplements/dietary needs you need to have, including a nutrition plan. If you have your records ready to go, that saves time of the prison dr. requesting the records and the waiting and the deciding and all that.

Hope that helps.  Above all, be proactive about your diet and healthcare, no matter where you are.

I believe U  can get  all your  vitamins and  possibly even a mini blender  and some protein shakes to keep in Ur cell.  Also  Ur own sneakers ( Ur atorney has to ask the judge for orthopedic shoes ) which are imposrtant if U don't wantto be shuffling around in slippers ... and Ur own bras  ( they have none in there ) . U MIGHT be able to have clothes brought in by visitors so prepare them ( chinos , polo shirts are good things   no red or blue because of gang affiliations ) .

BUt its a LOT better  to write the judge ahead of sentencing and  TELL him about Ur health issues  ( prove them via medical records also and ask Ur doctor  to sign a note U drafted )  and  I BET he gives ya probation rather than incarceration if he knows.  Its also super important NOT to be embarassed by this and instead encourage  Ur family to attend the hearings in order for him/her to see U have Ur family's support .

U CAN do this Hun !!!  (((()))))))
