Restaurant offers WLS menu! BABY STEAKS, guys! YAY!

Philadelphia Biz Journal -

Well, heck!

Where were you nine years ago?  And why are you not inMassachusetts?  I would immediately and frequently patronize a restaurant that offered smaller portions actually created for the WLS patient.

I do wonder about a small amount of stigma -- regarding sitting and ordering from the menu -- some people might feel weird about doing it.

But, you know what?  Who cares!  I'd hit it.  I am probably too excited about the LITTLE ITTY BITTY STEAKS!

I don't really get it. Why offer a special menu for WLS patients?  Why  not just have a "small portions" menu or a "healthy  meals" menu?  The portions served in most restaurants are really too large for anyone, regardless of whether or not they've had WLS.  Numerous people would like to be able to order from a menu offering smaller portions of healthy food.  And I would prefer not to have to disclose my medical history to the server at a restaurant.

Because the owner had WLS and it's marketable.

I rather order a regular meal, eat what I can/want and either waste the rest of it or bring home a doggie bag.  I would waste the rest of a meal especially on a hot day when I am going elsewhere afterward and not straight home .. I get nauseated by the smell of bagged food inside my car ... just a pet peeve of mine since for-ever....

I like the idea of the availability of smaller portions for those who rather that option though...

At this stage, I might still order a regular meal because I can physically eat more, but I still like the idea.

Filet Mignon is never very big any way, to me it looks like a baby steak, but I never eat steak unless forced too.  I went to Chipotle Mexican Grill last night and had a Mexican bowl which was probably the best Mexican food I ever ate.  It was yummy.

for me it was so embarassing to present my WLS card to the waitress in order to be allowed to order off the childrens menu. Most of the time they look at you without knowing what the card is and I would have to explain it so everyone around me knows. Then wait while they get the manager and I would have to do the same thing with that person. I ended up just ordering the Adult menu eating a few bites and wasting the rest.

I've never used a WLS card. Most so-called children's meals are not healthy choices anyway: chicken nuggets, hamburger, mac and cheese?
Many restaurants have a 'small plates' menu, and I usually order something there- one good steak house here has a 'half steak'-just the right size.

otherwise, I order what I want to eat, save or waste what I cannot eat, depending on cir****tances.

I Love the idea of having smaller portions, however, as a diabetic, how could I be abo****ely certain that I am going to be getting the nutrients that I truly need to stay healthy? The restaurants are not listing nutritional values beyond the basic few, and the ones we don't see are the ones that can really affect me.

My surgeon gives you a card that allows you to order from the children's menu or senior menu. I guess the restraint could refuse it, but I think they would rather you return.
