creamed soups....says you can have these. but is it only the recipes listed on site that are allowable?

I did this 5 Day Pouch Test once before. Didn't have quite the results I was hoping for. Lost about 5#'s. But I bought ate at least 1-2 canned creamed soups a day on Day 1 & 2. Like Cream of Asparagus, Cream of Potato and Tomato soup. Was that where I went wrong?

How many pounds were you expecting to lose in just five days?  One pound per day sounds like quite a lot to me.

Not sure, Kelly...just thought it would be more water weight, bloating would go down more etc. I was happy I lost. However it didn't "stick" and I don't believe I got any revelations about my pouch. There are just days I can eat more than others.

I am more wondering about the cream soups.

Thanks!

The soups you picked were all more "carb heavy". If you want to lose more weight (though it may come back after you resume "normal diet") try to stick to low carbs soups, or just make your own shakes... heavy on proteins, low moderate fat - and low carbs... That way you not only may get back the feeling of good restriction - but also decarb and decrease carbs cravings...

I was told low fat but they could be canned.

please forgive me but I really don't understand the point of a restrictive and harsh DIET  after WLS .  couldn't U just eat more fiber and try to move and sweat more ?

Honestly I would talk with a nutritionist before you go that route. It almost seems like another fad diet.

Many RNY'ers use the 5DPT as a way to reset themselves. And to make sure their pouch is still working as it should. Also a way to detox from heavy carbs.

No, its just a way to "bariatrically(?) detox" yourself is how I look at it. Its not harsh or fad in my mind. It was quite doable actually when I did it.

If you want the results to stick you have to stick to the diet forever, so pick one you can live with.  I created a diet for myself to lose weight with foods that I like, cutting out all the simple carbs and processed crap including my beloved protein bars.  It works as long as you reduce calories and stick to it.
