5 days post-op RNY

Today is Day 5 and I honestly wasn't sure I'd make it.
I posted on the BBGC on Facebook the night of my surgery and was attacked by some very mean-spirited women. Hope I don't get that here. My first night I posted how I couldn't believe I was 232 pounds and that I could could kick myself for abusing my body so terribly for the past few years...then the claws came out.
The first 3 days were pretty bad. Lots of pain and nausea (and NO sleep in the hospital). I couldn't wait to get home. I still can't get all my fluids in but I am getting my protein in. I found a few protein powders that I love! Unfortunately it takes me hours to get down 8-10 ounces.
I know each day will get better so I cling to that. The pain is much, much better but I just have overall weakness from low caloric intake, low fluids. I'll try much harder tomorrow. My surgeon said not even to worry about the vitamins right now because I have plenty in reserves but I do have to start by week 4.
I go back to work on July 30. I have an office job so I should be fine. Thank God my husband is doing all baby care right now because I had a hard time just taking a shower today.
Anyway, thank you for listening and God bless you all because this is a tough journey.

your body has been thru a great ordeal and it will take a while to feel better... tomorrow marks my first 2 weeks post-op and i still have incision pains, as well as some random ones.. youre on the right track with being positive and knowing that each day it does get a bit better.. just keep on trying as hard as you can to get what you need... and dont worry about negative folks because they will always be there.. i just try to avoid them and keep my eye on the prize!

Hi there. I had surgery Monday as well and was surprised how much pain I was for the first 2 or 3 days. I'm able to drink enough surprisingly which is actually making me feel like I have a huge pouch. I'm still a bit swollen and in a lil pain but nothing too bad. I actually cheated already soooo bad. I had the cheese from half of a small slice of pizza. It hurt so bad and hurt even worse when it came back up. I'm glad that happened so I can stay on track. I have rested a wholeee lot maybe that's y I'm able to drink a lot. U should take it really easy and keep trying to get all ur fluids and walk when ur up to it. Good luck
