Question Goal wt VS IDW
ack! i feel so old now.. i remember seeing that chart and formula when i was much much younger (now im 41) and it just stuck in my head.. of course back then i dont think they accounted much for bone structure and i never heard anything about BMI, so i really dont know how they came up with that formula... i do agree that your body and your own eyes will tell you at what point youve reached the magical point.. peoples bodies are made so differently that the scale number isnt really a reflection anymore.. ive seen a few people get to their "ideal" weight only to come out looking like the crypt keeper.. im with the rest of the gang - go for what you feel is right for you!
Normal BMI is 18-25, so for someone your height that would be 120-165. See how you feel when you get to 165 and reevaluate then. I'm 5'7" tall and 135 pounds (a BMI of 21). I like this weight on me. You will also have to decide how hard you want to work to stay at your chosen ideal weight. I'm quite certain if I did not work so hard, I could easily maintain around 150, but I like being 135.

If you follow the program given by your surgeon, and stay on it, your body will automatically stop losing when you get to your ideal weight. And it takes at least a year at your ideal weight for it to be established as your new set-point. That does not mean re-gain is no longer possible. Don't worry about the number. Stay on high protein, low carb, with exercise and supplements. Your body knows better than we do and it will stop when it is happy with the ideal weight.
Good luck!!!
