spaghetti-o's with meatballs!!!!!
WOOHOO I have found out I can tolerate 1 cup of spaghetti -o's and it only has 11 g of sugar, and 13 g of protein!! WOOHOO
I feel like I am cheating, but I think back before I would eat a whole can with a bag of chips so I think I can be ok with this "cheat" haha
I am 10 days out and feeling SOOOOOO much better. My surgeon is very happy with my progress, I can gulp water as long as I have not eaten within 30 minutes. I feel like I am finally normal and on a path to healing. I can eat almost anything except Soda, Steak, or Pork.
Oh well I am finally happy to be on the losing side!!

every surgeon is different, I have spoken to people who ate steak and brocolli in the hospital!!
I will only eat about 2/3 a cup before I am full and it will take me almost 45 minutes also. I was told I can have bread and pasta in small amounts as long as the bread is toast, and the pasta is well-cooked. I would not do anything stupid, but thanks for the concern
Hi Anna,
Youi didn't mention the carb count in the spaghetti-o's. Those would be refined, not complex carbs. Also, just remember, pasta in your little pouch expands. Just like Rice. The sugar content, is also very high, be very careful because it could cause dumping.
It always totally amazes me the number of surgeons VS the number of different food protocols. If your surgeon and nutritionst say its great to have spaghetti'0's, then go for it
On my protocol, it was full liquids 3 weeks, pureed foods/full liquids 3 weeks, and then soft foods thru 6 months. No sugar beyond 3 grams per serving, and limit those as much as possible. I still have not had bread, rice, potatos, no refined sugars at all. I do have some Dreamfield pasta, maybe once a month, between 1/4 and 1/3 cup. Even then, I don't eat the entire portion.
Someone said they had sardines the other night, at 2 weeks post op, and I just shuddered, I could not even eat them pre op
Congrats on your surgery.

Well I can eat anything that is under 12 grams of sugar per serving. I have not dumped yet so I am doing something right. Every surgeon is different and his office has done over 700 surgeries. I don't mean to sound pissy but I wrote this because I was happy and everyone becomes the "expert" My surgeon is DIFFERENT from others and visa versa. I have not dumped and i am down 11.5 lbs in 10 days so I am happy. Of course now I am not too amused I think I will stop posting
You are doing very well. Don't let the "experts" discourage you. Alot think just because they were not allowed means it is so for everyone. Do and eat as you and your surgeon believe. You know the saying opinions are like buttholes everyone has one. Just keep up the good work. I eat what I can hold down not what others say I should and shouldn't eat. It's your body and you know what is right for you.

Just becuase you haven't dumped doens't mean you have done something right, it may just mean you don't dump! And weight lose slows done the farther out you are so it's best to not let little cheats develop so soon. No I'm not an expert, just someone who hasn't dumped and doesn't always do everything right.
While I'm happy you found something you can tolerate maybe I would be even happier if it was something that was a little healthier. More nurtients. I am not a carb watcher, was allowed then from day one, but 1 cup of spaghetti o's would 2 servings of starch on my protocol so I would not make that choice.
P.S. sorry you learned the hardway about posting what you eat.
