How much does bariatric RNY surgery cost?
I know it ranges area to area but what is the general cost in the northeast new england area.. including hospital stay, etc?
My surgery is medically necessary with my weight and health conditions but my deductible of $4,000 restarts in Jan and i know i won't have my surgery before then. Will they turn me away if i cannot come up with the $4,000 up front? Will the insurance still pay and then just bill me the $4,000 out of it? Also i have a 20% co-insurance but it says too i am allowed $20,000 max for all things related to bariatric surgery then again it says that max i have to pay out of pocket is like $7,000 i believe??

Mine was around 30k-40k with everything (in the Midwest). I was billed for charges after the surgery. I had already paid most of my out of pocket 4k before the surgery on pre-op tests, etc. My surgeon didn't make me pay anything for the surgery before the surgery. Must hospital charges, etc are expected to be paid fairly quickly.
Can you put money into a health plan at work (flex pay, pre tax, etc)? That way the money is available riight away and you pay a portion of it with every pay check.
Good luck.

I'm from the midwestand and had my RNY about 3 years ago. It was around $35,000.00. By the time I had the surgery, most of my deductible was met with the numerous appointments I had before surgery. I did not have to pay the remainder until after I had the surgery. Good luck. It was the best money I ever spent!
you should call your insurance company and get some clarification from them. if the pre-op appts and testing are included in the 20K max you may be very close before you even have surgery. You will likely need $7000 for your surgery as that is your out of pocket max. Your doctor and hospital usually have payment plans. You may want to get all of the testing done next year so that those
go to the deductible and out of pocket max and aren't split over two years going towards your deductible.
