Has anyone had the overstitch procedure?  Is it working for you? Tri

Not really sure what this means.  I've seen it posted  a few times.  I know my surgeon overstitches at the inital RNY.  He said "I take an 'overstitch' approach when I create your pouch."  I'm guessing you're asking if people had this done post-RNY to make their stretched out pouch smaller?  Would you mind helping me understand this?  (I love to learn enlightened)

Your surgeon sounds like a smart man.  How far post op are you?  Do you feel restriction?  Overstitch is a revision approved in Feb. 2012.  I am wondering if it has worked for anyone.  thanks

I'll be 6 weeks post op on Thursday.  I do feel restriction if I eat bulky foods.  Puree's and liquids slide right through.  So, I stick to mostly bulkier foods (meats and veggies).  I've progressed with food very very well.  However, I had the band for 5 years prior to my RNY, so I'm used to "pouch eating".

this sounds like the ROSE procedure, making the pouch smaller after RNY. i've heard that its successful during the initial post-op period but not long term. i don't have personal experience with it but hopefully someone who does will chime in.

The rose uses staples and the overstitch uses stitches.  The overstitch machine is more maneuverable than the rose machine.  thanks, Tri

thanks for the clarification. sounds like they do the same thing via a different method.

My understanding is it's similar to the ROSE procedure, which although has shown some immediate positive results, the long-term results are minimal at best.  Last I heard any of theses procedures were still considered experimental and insurances were not approving them, it requires self-pay.

Are you experiencing regain?  If so, how much (if you don't mind sharing)?   Is your stoma stretched?  Would a true revision be an option vs.  experimental procedure?
