I have had 2 c-sections one in 2006 and one in 2004. My 2004 one got badly infected but does this have any impact on RNY? I have also had my tonsils out as a child and gallbladder out in 2011.

My surgeon got my c-section records and has not called me with any concerns.. so i don't know! Anyone else have multiple c-sections and no problems getting the surgery?

No problems here, and you need to consider the fact that where you had your c-section incision is quite a way below where your surgeon will be working to do your RNY. I also had scar tissue and mesh from hernia surgery when I had my bypass and that was more in the area where he would be working and no problems with that either.

No problem at all! I had 3 c-sections as I breed large children lol. Hope you can have a lap surgery which I had no problems with scar tissue.

I was thrilled to be able to use my caesarian  and appendix scarring to get my VSG.  In Ontario, adhesions (internal scarring) is among the few qualifications that allows a VSG instead of an RNY and I was ecstatic to get my choice!  I'm not certain that all surgeons use these parameters, but I couldn't have been happier at the time or 3.5 years later.  kiss

Best wishes in getting what you're hoping for and make sure to do your due diligence on choice of surgery as we are all different!

enlightened Hello, and I have had 2 C-sections too. I told my doctor and he says it is not going to make any problems for what he does; R-N- Y 2-27-2013.

You will be fine, I was also worried about that, I have had 4 c-sections and my dr said he would not be anywhere near that part of my body so we were all good.  i was worried it would disqualify me and he made me relax, just love him so much

You will promote wound healing if you use proper hygiene (wash your hands with soap and water before touching your incision) and avoid wearing tight fitting clothing that can rub on your incision.  Also drink plenty of water (as tolerated post op).   Perhaps add some extra vitamin C to your diet before you go in for the procedure.  Vitamin C is essential for fighting infections, wound healing and coping with stress.  Excellent food sources of vitamin C include broccoli, bell peppers, parsley, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, lemon juice, strawberries, mustard greens.  Most importantly do not stress over the "What if's????"  Try to calm down.  I know that you are anxious but try to "stop" and BREATHE.

I don't think a C- section comes in the way of any bariatric weight loss surgery. Having a RNY should be no problem at all.
